Why does the download come out as a PNG?

Rounded corners need transparency where the square corners used to be, and only PNG (and WebP) can store transparency. So the tool always exports a PNG to keep those corners cleanly see-through.

Can I control how rounded the corners are?

Yes. The slider sets the radius as a percentage of the image's shorter side, from a light rounding up to 50% — which turns a square image into a full circle.

Will the corners look jagged?

No. The curve is anti-aliased, so the rounded edges stay smooth at any radius rather than looking stair-stepped.

Is this the same as a circle crop?

It's related. Rounding a square image to the maximum 50% radius produces a circle — the same as the Circle Crop tool. For anything less than fully round, use this tool to keep the rectangular shape with soft corners.

Does rounding change the image size?

No. The pixel dimensions stay the same; only the corners become transparent. Use the Resize tool if you also need to change the dimensions.

Are my photos uploaded?
