Files never leave your device

Up to 50MB per file

YouTube channel art is the trickiest image the platform asks you for, because a single file has to look right on a giant TV, a laptop, a tablet and a phone all at once. The size YouTube recommends is 2560 by 1440 pixels, kept under 6MB, and this tool snaps any image to exactly that in your browser. Get the dimensions wrong and YouTube either rejects the upload or stretches your banner into something blurry — so the safest first step is to start from a clean 2560x1440 canvas.

The part that catches almost everyone out is the safe area. Although the full banner is 2560x1440, only the central 1546 by 423 pixels are guaranteed to show on every device — that strip is all a phone displays, while desktops and TVs reveal progressively more of the image around it. Anything you actually need people to see — your channel name, logo, tagline or upload schedule — must sit inside that central band. Treat the wide edges as decorative background that fills out on bigger screens, and your branding will never get cropped off on mobile.

The workflow is straightforward. Upload your artwork above and it's resized toward 2560x1440; if your source is a different shape, crop it to 16:9 first with our free Crop tool so nothing important is squeezed or stretched. Lay your key elements down the middle, keep the outer regions as texture or colour, and preview the result. If the finished file is over YouTube's 6MB cap, run it through our Compress Image tool to bring it under the limit while keeping it sharp.

Because the resize happens entirely on your device, nothing is uploaded to us and nothing is stored — useful when a rebrand or channel relaunch isn't public yet. The tool is free, watermark-free and unlimited, so you can try several banner versions and re-export until the layout sits correctly across the device previews YouTube shows during upload.

One design tip the pixel dimensions can't give you: check your banner at phone size before committing. Open the central safe area at the size it'll actually appear on a small screen and make sure the name and any text read instantly — bold, high-contrast lettering almost always beats a busy, detailed design once the banner is scaled down. Set the 2560x1440 frame here, keep your message in the safe zone, and your channel will look polished on every screen.
